Sweaty McSweats Alot...

Worn to work Tuesday, May
Wow...June tomorrow...so not ready for that!!

Like my new nail polish...Brazillian...OPI...love it!!! I have found if I keep my nails painted, I will be less likely to bite them off...they are yummy!

This is how I wish I could wear this outfit all day.  Flowy skirts and tank tops are, and always will be my summer staples.  My white muscular calves have an aversion to shorts...

I plan to repeat myself until I stop sweating....I hate the heat!!

I just bought this skirt yesterday, and since I am the queen of instant gratification, I had to wear it today. I was not sure what color tank would go with it...then when the purple tank top fell off the overstuffed shelf it sits on...a decision was made.  I would have loved to just run out the door like that, but I do work in an office, not a beach, so I reluctantly threw on this blazer...linen and wrinkly! Iam not sure I am a fan of how this outfit turned out, but I could not go to work naked...could I!

Those new cake pops from Starbucks are Alex's favorite.  Who could resist all that cakey goodness on an easy to carry stick!!

Oh....I hate the heat...in case you forgot...

Weekend Wrap-up...

On Saturday, me and two other Chicago bloggers Anne of The Cohabitating Closet and Julia of Polkadot Biker Shorts meet up to explore the Chicago Antique Market Randolph Street.  I have never seen so much vintage and handmade thing in one spot! It was so great to finally meet some other Chicago bloggers...Anne and Julia are so great!  When I get nervous I talk a lot, so when I met Julia and Anne, I could not shut up...what a dork I am !

There was so much amazing things to photograph...I picked a few to share.

I love to play with my manual focus...

 So many amazing vintage books...

This rocking horse freaked me out...you pressed on its ear, and it started naying...it mouth moved!

Sunday was my me and my husbands 6th wedding anniversary.  I cannot believe we have been married for six years already.  If jack is 5, it was to be 6...I am good at math!  To celebrate we went to the movies...together...alone.  The last movie we saw together was Indiana Jones...our last anniversary.  This year, for our annual movie we saw Bridesmaids...sooooooo funny...I laughed so hard that I was crying at one point.  If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

On Monday, I slept...slept until I actually wanted to get up...noon.  The in-laws took the kids for a sleepover so we could see our movie and sleep late the next day
Tank top-Anthropologie/pants-Nordstroms/Sandals-Target

So, I spent the day running errands.  I have a lot of little things I need to get done before I go back to work full time...Target (of course) and Old Navy.  In case I never have brought it up, I am not a fan of summer...hate the heat...hate the sweating.  If it could be 60 degrees and sunny, I would be deliriously happy!  Today I started sweating as soon as I walked outside.  To make matters worse, the air conditioning in my car is broken and it is sooooo hot, even with the windows open.  Now that I am home, I am going to plant myself in front of a/c unit in the bedroom and bond with my Kindle...love me my Kindle.

All in all a great holiday weekend!

What is Big, Red and Circular...?

Worn to work Thursday, May 26

Dress-Target/Blazer-Gap/Shoes-Me Too/Jewelry-H&M, Black Sheep

Love, Love, Love this dress...I think I am going to go buy it in another color tomorrow...ok, now that I got that off my chest...(not gigantic anymore!!)

My name is Randi and I am a Target-a-holic..."Hi Randi"(that was the chorus in my mind.  I usually go there two to three times per week.  Since now I can get fresh groceries and fun clothes, accessories and toys for the kids...why go anywhere else!

So, on my lunch break from work, instead of going to get lunch, I usually go to Target and buy my groceries and such. Yesterday, along with chips, salsa, rice cakes and peanut butter (my families staples)
I picked up this dress. It has a slight empire waist with draping and a rounded him that hides the lumps from my incision and an exposed zipper down the back.  I dressed it up for work, but I can wear it all summer with sandals and my new jacket...yipee!! Not sure if you an tell, but my bracelet is a zipper...I love zippers!

It has been pouring here in Chicago for days, so I had to take these pictures in the lobby of my office.  I also forgot my tripod, so I balanced the camera on a desk in the hallway the details in the pictures did not turn out that great, had to zoom out to get my head in the shot.  There is this weird statue of cherubs in the hallway, so I decided to befriend them.  But, they were exposing themselves to me, so I thought I would cover them up for you in the last shot...ha!!!

The Babysitter is Not Supposed to Sit On The Baby...

Worn to work Tuesday, May 23

Dress-target/Jacket-Ann Taylor Loft/Shoes-Urban Outfitters

Just bought this denim linen jacket from Ann Taylor Loft...so soft and comfy....love the faded color.  Is is perfect for my freezing office and over dresses and with skirts all spring and summer long.

Top-Ann Taylor Loft/Jeans-Nordstroms/Belt-H&M/Shoes-OTBT

Had a lot of errands to run today, so I wanted to be comfy....jeans and t shirt. To add some fun I added the bright pink belt, bunch of wrap bracelets and my brogues.  I love these jeans...I bought these right after the first surgery, they have a bit of stretch.  But, now that everything is back to normal, they are a bit to big and I have trouble keeping them up...good thing I like to wear belts.

So, on the I'm very excited front, I found a babysitter/ nanny. I was having a hard time finding someone who would pick Jack and Alex up from camp and take them back to the house...it is a long drive. Today I found an absolutely wonderful girl to help take care of my boys! Knowing that they will be in good hands will make the transition of going back to work full time easier.

On an unrelated note, I never realized how dependent I was on the internet.  Our wireless was down in the house today, and I was lost without the use of my laptop...no blogging.  So, then I went to my new Kindle...love it...to read a book.  I finished a book last night and with no wireless, I could not even download a book to read! Ahhhh! Must fix!!!

Too Busy For A Monday...

Worn to Work Monday, May 23

Skirt-Ann Taylor Loft/Cardigan-Nordstroms/Shoes-Steve Madden/Jewelry-Target, BR

As I was taking these photos at the lake by my office, there was a couple that sat down right on the bench across from me and started making out...awkward!!

So, I get a call from Jack's doctor this morning.  I was assuming that they would say his chest x-ray was clear and all was well.  But, to my shock, the nurse told me there was something on his chest x-ray on his lungs...they are not sure and they thing it might be a respiratory or bronchial infection...antibiotic and inhaler time. My poor baby...I feel so helpless when he gets sick!

Truthfully, not much thought went into this outfit today.  I got up late, since Alex slept in my bed because he was afraid of the thunder and lightening, so i turned my alarm off.  This skirt was at the front of the closet and so was this cardigan.  I thought it would be springy to ad a bright colored tank, then threw on these shoes.  These leopard peep toes are one my favorites...be prepared to see them a lot this summer

Could there please be more than 24 hours in a day....I need at least 36 to get everything done...
pretty please...with sugar on top...

No...ok...fine...back to work!

M-O-M...Spells Mommy Randi

At least that is what my kids say...

So, this was my mommy Randi style for the week

 Skirt-Express/Jacket-Old Navy/Wedges-UO

This outfit was worn on Wednesday.  We went to the gym, Target, doctor, played at home then off to Jack's school.  I like wearing the maxi skirt, it gives me the ability to run around with the kids...the jacket can always be taken off when I get too warm, but helps me still look polished.
Wednesday night was Kindergarten orientation...wow...my baby boy is going to be going to school from 8:40 to 3:15.  The thought of it was always been so overwhelming.  But, not that it is getting closer and we have all the details, I am in a state of panic.

 Jeans-jcrew/shirt-Zara/shoes-Sam Edelman/necklace-Macy's

Friday was a long day of running around...it was such a beautiful day out, sun shining, slight breeze, but unfortunately i had to spend most of the day driving around.  I thought jeans and my new striped shirt would work well.  I tried to funk up the shirt with a new necklace with floral beads and my red flats.  The only problem with this outfit was it got way to hot in the afternoon and I was sweating...but I guess it did not really help the matter that the air conditioning in my car is broken...ahhhhh!!!
I spent the morning at Alex's school.  It was the first time I really ever observed Alex in his element with his friends at school.  The boys are just so different when they are apart vs. playing together.  I never realized how much of a leader Alex was among his peers.  After songs, cookies and juice we had to drive to go get Jack at his play date an hour a way, check out a few garage sales in the area and then back home.  After Jack's check x-rays...I finally had to time relax.  I definitely need the weekend!

Every Hour...Every Day...

Worn to work Thursday, May19

Dress, Cardi-Banana Republic/Shoes-Lori's/Jewelry-Flea market, Black Sheep

Let me start by saying today was a good day and hopefully will be a good evening.  Sun was shining... the temperature was above 50 degrees, I can now hear out of my left ear...snot is lessening!  woo hoo!

I hate to talk about my smaller boobs so much, but I am just so happy to have them. This dress had a hard time fitting for so long, and now it is big in chest and waist.  It is so much easier to dress with these boobs!! ok, no more boob talk for a while!

Not sure if you can tell, but my ring is a shaped like a camera.  I found it at a local boutique and I just had to buy it.  Also, just got these new sunglasses...cannot buy fancy expensive ones since the kids like to stretch them out and stick their sticky fingers all over them.

Tomorrow, I am the Shabbat guest at Alex's school...I guess I have to bring cookies and lead them in songs...wish me luck! We just have so much to do tomorrow.  After school I have to go pick Jack up at a play date and then take him for a chest x-ray.  He went to the doctor yesterday for his physical and the doc thinks he might have a respiratory infection or asthma.  It is so scary to see you kids sick, you just feel so helpless...hopefully his lungs will clear up with the meds the doctor prescribed.  Not the easiest thing to get a 5 year old to take an inhaler!

Stop Sneezing In My Face...

I guess when your kids sneeze and cough on you constantly you are bound to get sick... Right? Between Jack's strep and Alex's coughing snot festival, I have caught an amalgamation of of germs equaling a cough, runny nose, ear infection party. But when mom gets sick the world does not stop...or even slow down. So, I got up today and got dressed. It seemed too cold for a skirt and heels sans tights...I refuse to go back to wearing tights...so my one pair of dress pants it is.

I just bought this top at Ann Taylor Loft last weekend.  I love it there, they always have some kind of promotion going. Not sure if you can tell, but the black stripes are a ruffle texture.  Once I looked at my outfit in the 1 full length mirror we have in the house...random it is in Alex's room...I realized that the outfit needed some color...so I hunted down the red belt.  I really like this outfit today...comfortable and I think the pants and heels make my legs look long...always a plus.  Something has to make up for the fact that I am so congested that I can barely hear.

I Guess It Is Just Me Then...

Worn to work Monday, May 16

I am sun worshiping...not for the tan, but just to feel the sun's warmth...have not had a lot of that here as of late.
Dress-Old Navy/Jacket-Tulle/Boots-Zara

I loved this dress when I ordered it from Old Navy.  But now that I am wearing it and seeing it in photos, I am questioning my love for it...maybe it was just the idea of it I loved.  Sounds like life...a lot of things are better as the idea of something, not the actual reality.
Not much to say today...same craziness...new week!

La..La..La Love

Things that make me smile this weekend!

Love me some Target.  Now that you can get fresh groceries there, I have no need to shop for anything else.  In fact, I went to Target twice this weekend.  After the gym on Fridays, Alex tells everyone on our way out, that "we are going to Target now"...makes a mama proud!  HAHA!

My new bag.  A present to myself for going to back to work full-time.  It can be a satchel for work and a shoulder bag or cross-body for everything else.  Love the vintage look to it and the great chevron color pattern.  I am looking forward to toting around all my stuff with it this summer and fall!

Chick's n Salsa...my new favorite Mexican restaurant...how can you not love healthy Mexican food.  My new nutritional staple is the vegetarian burrito...whole wheat, low-carb tortilla, vegetarian black beans, multicolored peppers, onions, carrots, avocado, red rice a little sour cream and a little guacamole.
Each entree comes with its own bag of freshly baked chips.  Also, a salsa bar with four types to choose from...yum!! To top it all off, the prices are very reasonable and it is five minutes from the house...I am now I regular there!
My lovers!

Better Late Than Never...Sure...

Worn to work Thursday, May 12

 Skirt-Banana Republic/Blazer-Nordstroms/Shoes-Nicole

I know I am a few days late to he EBEW floral bandwagon but I hope you will still have me.  Love all the floral the women have going on over at Everybody Everywhere.  This used to be my favorite skirt. I bought it back in 2005 for a bridal shower and wore it frequently until I was to pregnant to zip it anymore. I did not really fit into it after I had the boys so it got pushed to the back of my closet. A few weeks ago while cleaning out my closet I decided to try it on again. With fingers crossed... It zipped up and fits pretty well. Love the print... Big purple blooms...yellow shadows...green leaves... I had a meeting today, so I decided to pair the skirt with an eyelet blazer and purple patent mary jane's (that got cut off in the photos) and dangly earrings.

So things at the homestead have spun a little out of control lately and I am on damage patrol...plus jack is sick and miserable, so we all are just kind of whiney and tired...But, I have learned a valuable lesson...you must take responsibility for your own actions.

Weekend Wrap-up...No Wrapping Paper Necessary...

Worn Saturday, April 7

Dress-Mica/Shoes-Me Too/Blazer-Gap/Necklace-Mexico

I have no idea where this dress came from or how old it is. Saturday I was digging through my closet trying to find something to wear to a family christening and I stumbled upon this dress folded up on the floor of my closet...what a fabulous present to me. When I tried it on I was confused by the neckline, but after I realized the deep scoop goes in the back, I  danced around my closet in joy...a new dress. I can imagine wearing it this summer with strappy flat sandals and a denim jacket.  I am on the hunt for dresses that can be worn this summer to work and then out on the weekends...

Sunday was Mother's Day.  Every year my mom and I wake up early and go downtown to walk the 3 mile Y-Me Breast Cancer Race.  We had a beautiful day this year, 65 degrees and sunny.
Pardon the quality of the photo...no makeup, early morning iphoto...
After lunch we always go to Stanley's for the brunch buffet...so much good food in one place...southern mac and cheese...waffle boats!  After gorging ourselves at breakfast we always go shopping then home to the men...and boys.
When I arrived home, my boys surprised me with a dozen pretty roses and great handmade cards.  I thank every day that I am lucky enough to be Jack and Alex's mom. After a much needed, too short, nap we went to my mother-in laws house for dinner.

All in all...it was a pretty great Mother's Day!!
