No Costume Required...

Happy Halloween...or as I call it... happy I have a headache because there is too much candy everywhere and I have no will power Wednesday!  Woo Hoo!!

Skirt-Fox's/shirt-Gap/Jewelry-H&M, Baublebar, Asinamali/Booties-Steve Madden

If you put a bowl of candy up at the front desk that I have to pass every time I have to go to the bathroom, I am going to eat a piece every time...and I pee a lot!!

Halloween is an exciting holiday for my boys...they get to dress up as their favorite superhero, cartoon or animal. I don't really feel the need to dress up for Halloween anymore...isn't just getting up in the morning and putting on clothes, instead of wearing pajamas all day, enough of a costume.

When Jack asked me what I was dressed as...I replied "your mother"!

Anakin and Obi-Wan

The sugar buzz will wear off eventually...right??

A Leopard Falls Down...

Worn to work Monday, October 28

Dress-Old Navy/Boots-Williams/Cardigan-Target/Jewelry-Nordstrom's Rack, Target, Black Sheep

This Old Navy dress was one of my summer staples...comfy and the light loose material keep me cool during the heat, plus it has pockets!  I loved it so much, I even bought it in pink.  I have so many light summer dresses that neglected when the weather gets cooler...so I decided to break out one of my favorites and winterize it!  Because it is a collarless button up, I was not sure if I should go with a cardigan or blazer...but today's schedule had no meetings, I opted for one of my many leopard cardigans...keep me warm in my heat-less office.  To keep my legs warm, I dond tights and my flat brow boots.  During the summer, I usually wear the dress with a thinner belt, but today I went with the heavier leather belt.
All in all, I think this outfit came together well and I was successful in my attempt to cold weather-ize this great dress.

A funny story from my kids...
Alex got 2 gerbils for his birthday two weeks ago.  When we bought them, I made the pet store owner make sure they were both girls...I did not want procreating gerbils on my hands.  Well, Saturday morning I was awakened by Alex screaming "gerbil babies".  I ignored him, thinking he was just playing around.  But as his screaming continued and Jack chimed in, I went to check out all the commotion...OH CRAP...there were six pink, furless, squeeking baby gerbils squirming around in the cage.  Turns out, one of the gerbils was pregnant when we got it.  The little things are totally freaking me out!!!

As I sit here and watch the weather on CNN, I wish safe times and minimal damage to all effected by the hurricane and storms.

I Will Always Love you...

Well hello Friday...what took you so long?

Jeans-Target/Sweater, scarf-Old Navy/Jacket-Jcrew/Jewelry-F21, LOFT, H&M

When my alarm went off this morning, I was not ready to accept the end of sleepy time, so I shut my alarm off.  Fast forward an hour...I hop out of bed when I heard my husband's alarm go off...I am usually out of the house by the time his alarm rings.  So, needless to say, me and the boys were running a bit late this morning...good thing Jack had no school today.  Lately, when I am tired and want something comfortable, but still fashionably fantastic, I throw on a pair of skinny jeans, sweater an/or button down and ankle boots.  I never ever thought I would be relying on jeans to be comfortable...how times change.

So this happened today since there was no school for Jack...

Jack looks so smart and grown up in his specs...love them!

By 10pm on a Friday night, I am usually in bed...watching TV getting ready for the all coveted sleep.  But tonight, lame old me, is going out.  My friend is having a "Ghoul's Night Out".  Essentially a Halloween themed game night...just the girl's.  Since she is a baker on the side, there will be tons of great treats for a sugar high and spiked apple cider for some fun.  I am looking forward to a great night...even though Saturday morning, when the boys wake me up at 7am, I will be regretting all the fun.

Friday...please come visit more often...

You Light Up My LIfe...

Working women today...

Skirt-Gap/Cardigan-LOFT/Booties-Steve Madden/Jewelry-Black Sheep, Target, Bauble Bar

Meetings today...so I decided to go with a conservative pencil skirt and cardigan...but add fun to the outfit my favorite booties and stack of bracelets.

The adorable J9 from j9styleblog gave me a sunshine award.  I love that her blog is about empowering and enriching women so they can gain back their sense of self one outfit at a time.  I must say these things mean a lot to me. Some days I wondering if anyone is actually "listening" when I blog and this award means my rambling a don't fall on deaf ears.

Questions...

Why did you start blogging
I started my corner of the Internet after I went back to work after having Alex. I have always been into clothes and style and needed a place to show my style and just vent about everyday life as a mom, employee, wife and women.

Who/what inspires you?
I am inspired by everything around me.  Other bloggers... Of course!  Also, magazines, TV shows and just people I see on the street!!

What is your favorite outfit of all time?
S0, I went back through my photo archives and I kept gravitating back towards two recent outfit...both involving polkadot sweaters...styled with a pencil skirt or skinny pants.

What do you wear when you are feeling not so fabulous?
Usually a great dress, cinched with a belt makes me feel a bit better about my reflection.

How do you fit blogging into your life?
It is not as easy to find time to blog as it used to be.  Working only 3 days per work means the days are pretty busy and finding time to take outfit photos is hard.  So now, I end up writing posts and reading other blogs at night, after the kids are in bed.

What is one place you would love to travel to?
Recently I have had the hankering for a Hawaiin vacation.  I want to hike up a volcano...sit on the beach reading book in peace and quiet...sounds wonderful!

What is your favorite color?
Purple

What is your favorite book/favorite author?
Any Vince Flynn book...especially involving Mitch Rapp...is a must read for me.  I love a good action, government spy, conspiracy story.

Who is your favorite designer?
I don't really have a favorite designer...

Where do you mostly shop for clothes?
Nordstrom's and Target

I know I am supposed to nominate 10 bloggers...but I want any bloggers who would like to share, to answer the questions too!  I would love to hear all about all of you!!

The Pink Power Ranger Strikes Again!

Every summer, during the Nordstrom's Anniversary sale, I buy one cooler weather piece.   A few of my previous purchases are brown Frye Harness boots,  Michael Kors dress, and a fun faux leather bomber jacket.
This year....pink...boucle...moto jacket!!!

 Jacket-Nordstrom's/Skirt-Anthropologie/Scarf-LOFT/Boots-OTBT via Lori's/Jewelry-Baublebar, Shopbop, DIY

So, this jacket has been hanging in my closet since July...me thinking of outfit ideas as I pass it by all summer.  But, once the weather cooled down, I was at a loss on exactly how to wear it.  I was determined to wear it today and I am pretty happy with the results.  I was thinking about wearing a black tank top under, but I opted for a plum color for a fall vibe.  One I put it on, I realized it was a bit less tough, more girlie...especially paired with the full denim skirt.  So, I decided my biker booties would be perfect footwear!  Since there was a chill in the air...I could actually see my breath...I thought staple silver scarf from last winter keep me warm.  It was a win!
Next time, I think I will style this great jacket with black skinnies, black tank top and a knee-high, heeled boots!

The Whole World Is Moving And I am Standing Still...

Worn to work Wednesday, October 17

Pants-Gap/Top-Eyeshadow/Shoes-Jeffrey Campbell/Jewelry-InPink, Francesca's, Macy's

I am just loving the black and blue color combo lately...

The fear of the future is just so paralyzing...it consumes all thoughts, taking up all the space where rational thought should reside.  But there is no time to stop, too much fills the day to stop.  So, the fear resides...in a place it is not welcome...in a place it does not belong.

Dizzy Up The Girl...

Floral and Peplum For Fall...

 Top-H&M/Skirt, Boots-LOFT/Jewelry-Target, Fox's, Jcrew, Madewell

Barely any of the full body shots turned out very well today...windy,  broken tripod, massive headache... so today there are pieces...kind of like how I think the outfit looked better as pieces...
I finally found a peplum top I liked...but I think I should have styled it with a slimmer bottom half silhouette...pencil skirt or skinny pants would work better.  Floral skirt wise...I think a slimmer top would have worked better with this skirt since it has a bit of volume.  Footwear wise, something with a bit of a heel, since the skirt hits right below the knee... Don't get me wrong...I love the way I looked today as I strolled through my meetings at work, but as I look at these photos, I see how I could have styled this outfit differently...  That is one of the great things about blogging...I spend too much time staring a photos of myself, but I am always learning something new...

So much beauty in fall...

If Found, Please Return To Owner...

If you find my brain, can you please return it to its rightful owner...please...

Jacket-JCrew/Skirt, Sweater-Old Navy/Jewelry-Jeweliq, Bauble Bar/Boots-Heritage

Preppy in polkadotts for a Friday in fall....
I finally found one of my favorite jackets, that I had been looking frantically for everywhere for the last month...hanging in the attic...same place it has been since I had it dry cleaned after a long winter...last year...ha!!  It was on super sale at Jcrew and I love the color and the fact it is light weight and has tons of big pockets!

I am exhausted and just so darn happy it is Friday!  I nearly blew away trying to take todays outfit photos, tripped over my own feet...twice, lost my car keys...found them an hour later, in my coat pocket and I spilled the salsa from lunch all over my skirt...

I definitely lost my brain...somewhere between here and there...

Bare Legs Be Gone...

Welcome back tights...I missed you dearly!

Skirt-Old Navy/Tights-Spanx/Shirt-LOFT/Jewelry-JCREW, BaubleBar, H&M/Boots-Steve Madden

Before I got comfortable with pants again, I pretty much wore skirts and tights everyday.  Eventhough I am becoming friends with pants again, tights and skirts will always be my first love.
I tend to wear Spanx tights.  They are a little pricey, but definitely worth it.  I have had the same 6 pairs for 3 of 4 years and have never gotten a run.  My favorite are the reversible ones...black and brown.  Also, why not have your stomach sucked in while wearing tights to keep warm!

I feel very Amy Pond in this outfit.  I was planning to wear new boots that I just received from Piperlime...mid calf high...buckle detailing, western style...but, as soon as I put them on the soles cracked.  I was pretty devastated...but thanks to their free return policy I can stop at UPS and just send them back easily.  So, I went with my trusty Steve Madden ankle booties to complete my outfit.
Back to Amy Pond... I am a Dr. Who geek, and Amy Pond is his most recent companion.  She is a bit tomboy and always wear shorter skirts, tights and mid calf or ankle booties with a t-shirt or button down...I usually wear longer skirts, so with the shorter skirt, my outfit reminded me of her!

Poof Goes The Baby...

Today is Alex's 4th birthday!!

On Saturday, we had a family party at our house in celebration.  I admit, I am not that mom that makes my own party invitations, decorations and sweets...My friends Target and Costco take care of most of that for me.  Since Alex will be having a few parties for his 4th, and entertaining leaves me in a cold sweat, we did not go to crazy.  Balloons, cupcakes and cousins running around having fun is how we do it!

We had to light the candles twice...Jack tried to blow them out before we started to sing!

Alex decided the best way to eat his cupcakes was to lay his head on the table and start licking!

Yes, Jack has two legs, but insisted on hopping around a good portion of the day!
My hansom boys....I am officially the mom of a 4 year old and six year old.

Cute story...Every time Alex opened a present, Jack would get all excited, talking about how much he wanted that to play with.  So, when Alex opened the Monsuno stadium, he said "Jack, you can have it".  After everyone left Alex let Jack share his presents, especially his favorite...the Batman Cave.  Whenever we are at the store and I pick something out for him, he says "we also have to get one for my brother"...he just thinks Jack is the coolest!!

What I wore on Saturday for the party

Sweater-The Limited/Jeans, loafers-Target/Jewelry-H&M, Vince Camuto, Target

Purple skinnies...fabulous!!!  I have a feeling you will be seeing these a ton on the blog!  Shhhhh...I also wore the Sunday!  I am just so excited I found some skinnies that are not low rise...these mid rise are much friendlier to my curvy body!  Target does not make many colors in the mid rise skinnies, but I am determined to hunt down so more...the fit is perfect and they are slim enough to tuck into boots when the weather allows.

Happy birthday to my little man Alex!!
