A Leopard Falls Down...

Worn to work Monday, October 28

Dress-Old Navy/Boots-Williams/Cardigan-Target/Jewelry-Nordstrom's Rack, Target, Black Sheep

This Old Navy dress was one of my summer staples...comfy and the light loose material keep me cool during the heat, plus it has pockets!  I loved it so much, I even bought it in pink.  I have so many light summer dresses that neglected when the weather gets cooler...so I decided to break out one of my favorites and winterize it!  Because it is a collarless button up, I was not sure if I should go with a cardigan or blazer...but today's schedule had no meetings, I opted for one of my many leopard cardigans...keep me warm in my heat-less office.  To keep my legs warm, I dond tights and my flat brow boots.  During the summer, I usually wear the dress with a thinner belt, but today I went with the heavier leather belt.
All in all, I think this outfit came together well and I was successful in my attempt to cold weather-ize this great dress.

A funny story from my kids...
Alex got 2 gerbils for his birthday two weeks ago.  When we bought them, I made the pet store owner make sure they were both girls...I did not want procreating gerbils on my hands.  Well, Saturday morning I was awakened by Alex screaming "gerbil babies".  I ignored him, thinking he was just playing around.  But as his screaming continued and Jack chimed in, I went to check out all the commotion...OH CRAP...there were six pink, furless, squeeking baby gerbils squirming around in the cage.  Turns out, one of the gerbils was pregnant when we got it.  The little things are totally freaking me out!!!

As I sit here and watch the weather on CNN, I wish safe times and minimal damage to all effected by the hurricane and storms.

First off, I love that you remixed this summer dress for the color weather! It's a great idea - adding the cardigan, tights, and boots. Perfect ways to weatherize a summer dress. And I love the patterned cardigan!

And that is hilarious! What a surprise. What are you guys going to do with the babies?

you look lovely. i'm a huge fan of that cardi!!! and how funny about the babies. i can imagine that they were slightly yucky looking. when we were kids we had some baby rabbits, also not so cute until they grew a bit and got furry.

I swear they try to freeze us out of all offices! Mine is so cold too... I love the idea of getting more wear out of summer pieces - great job with this look! Perfection transition to winter outfit!

Oh no, what are you going to do with the babies! I don't know what I'd do--I'm not much of a hamster/gerbil person as it is! Anyway, I love how you made this cute dress work for fall!

great remixing this summer staple, I think you turned it into a cozy and cute fall outfit.

Sorry to hear about your expanding gerbil family... maybe you can pawn them off on Alex's classmates... just remember in a few years you'll look back on this and laugh right?
