Waist Not...Want Not...

Worn to Work Monday, March 14

Dress-Tucker for Target/Jacket-Old Navy/Shoes-OTBT -via Lori's/Jewelry- JCrew,NY street vender, Target

Let me start by saying I love this outfit...very comfy.  When I was about to leave this morning, I asked my husband if he liked my outfit...he shrugged his shoulders, scrunched up his nose and said it was not his favorite.  Translated into "Brian Speak", which I am fluent in, that is i don't like it, it's not very flattering.  I was offended for a fleeting moment, but then it passed.  I don't dress for him, I dress for myself.  The whole discussion made me think of a post by Jessica from What I Wore pertaining to dressing not always for what is most flattering...

"So instead of posting just “flattering” photos, I’m just posting what this outfit looks like.  And while I do believe that wearing clothing to accentuate and highlight your assets is a great method to getting dressed, I still think there’s a place to just wear things that don’t make you look thinner than you are once and a while, even if you are a fashion blogger. "

I might not be a "fashion blogger" per say, but this is the way I feel about today's outfit.  I usually try to dress to accentuate my waist and toned legs...things that are fitted, not baggy and take photos that are complimentary to me and my outfit. Today's dress is empire waist and that does not really flatter my waist.  It is slightly loose and the jacket not as fitted as I usually wear. Plus, I love wearing my brogues...they remind me of when I was little and I wore them all the time.  With skirts it is not the most flattering shoe, no heel to make the leg look longer...but I love them...and this dress...outfit...so I wore it today in all my glory.  As I always say...my blog is real...about me!!

I ordered the Other Tucker for Target dress from the GO International Collection that just dropped and I cannot wait for it to arrive...I love those Tucker dresses...cannot you tell!

Thanks to Jessica Quirk of What I Wore for the quote.

Those Tucker dresses are really cute. I'm trying to keep myself out of Target this week so don't buy any of the dresses!

That Tucker dress looks fantastic on you. I went to Target yesterday and just felt like the whole trip was a bust...at least for me it was. Glad you had success with this dress.

I like this a lot on you - I liked it before I read how much you liked it.

I like the brogues with the dress and the scarf along too. It's colorful, season-appropriate, and stylish.

But I do agree with Jessica's quote - sometimes we just wear what we like, even if it is not "flattering."

This whole outfit still looks great, even if it's made up of pieces that you might not always pick for accentuating things. I like all of the colors, and I especially like your earrings!

Thanks for your comment today - I'm very slowly getting the hang of knitting!

What's the fun of getting dressed in the morning, if you're not putting on something that makes you happy?

I love this dress...that print is fantastic! And the scarf is such a great color :)

That's exactly how I feel. I don't understand why people think that an outfit or an item that makes you appear thinner or taller automatically makes you look better. That's frustrating and annoying.

You, my dear, look FANTASTIC. I love the dress, love it with the tights and brogues, and love the jacket and scarf. You look awesome!!!

I dont think this is unflattering at all....you may have outfits you like better, but this is far from unflattering. Its very hip and trendy and I love tucker for target too! Oh, and I can't NOT mention your oxfords...they are super cool...
ps I have the same bracelets, probably from the same street vendor...in soho right?

I really like this outfit!! I think there's something to be said about outfits that just make you feel good.

I can't wait to see your other Tucker for Target dress once it arrives. I went to the Target website about 5 times Sunday and almost bought that dress each time but kept talking myself out of it. If it's still in stock online, I just might have to get it!!

Ha, what does your husband know anyway? I really like this outfit!!
The only thing I'd change is swapping flats for heels, but that's just because i've become a heel addict.

I think the floral with the military and the great color mix is perfect!

Dress. I was referring to the dress. Sleepy commenting doesn't always work. LOL...

I am SO obsessed with dressing like a 70's rock icon sometimes, even though I am not shaped exactly like one. Sometimes you just have to do it for yourself, and ignore the fact that your outfit might resemble a paper sack (in my case).

My first impression of your outfit was that you look extra cute today!

LOVE the floral. It's my favorite for this Spring. Super cute!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving me a comment about my mini pizzas! :)

LOVEE this outfit! I'm not sure what you mean b/c from the images the outfit flatters you immensely. Also, right on for dressing for yourself and not for anyone else! That's my motto as well :D

xx.
