A Cardigan And A Wacky Weekend...

Cardigans are definitely staples in my closet.  Even though it is currently hot enough outside to fry an egg on the sidewalk...the air conditioning is on almost everywhere when you step inside (hopefully)...so, I decided to style 2 recent outfits around a short-sleeved cardigan...

Monday Morning Meetings...

In between these two outfits was the weekend...
I am pretty sure that there was an inside joke going on Sunday that I was not part of... and so the story begins...
Woke up Sunday with big plans to take the boys to the pool as soon as it opened...to avoid the crowds.  I finally get the bags packed, the swimsuits on...not as simple as it sounds with kids...and then husband decides to make pancakes...
An hour later, we are finally out the door...on the way to the pool, we notice dark clouds but I try to ignore them... Drag the kids out of the car...pay our fee...grab our chair...about to get in the water...the sky darkens...temperature drops...the voice over the loud speaker "due to storm warnings...the pool is now closed"...crap!  So, we pack our stuff up and run back to the car as the sky opens up and it starts pouring!!  It was raining so hard that we to pull over and wait out the storm in the car... so windy that the car was shaking, the hail so loud that the boys put their towels over their heads and plugged their ears! Once the rain slowed down enough that I could see, we had to go blocks out of our way just to get to the house...trees down in the street...electrical line down a few houses down from us!
Power out everywhere...including our, getting warmer by the minute with no a/c, house.
About 15 minutes later the rain stopped and the sun came out...I swear it was mocking all the damage it caused...one our block alone...two trees fell onto houses, flooded streets and the neighbors tree fell on to our garage.  Too bad it did not do too much damage...we kind of hoped it would have done damage so we had an excuse to knock it down...it is a barn...literally...our house is from 1920!!
More fun...so we decided to go see a movie...a/c and popcorn. First theater we stopped at was also closed due to the storm... Finally found an open theater and saw Brave.  The movie itself was cute, but the 1/2 hour of previews including a short cartoon was just unnecessary...what a long two hours.
Then we came home to no power yet...ahhh!  So, I quickly packed the clothes for me and the boys and headed to my parents a/c filled house...about an hour away!!  You would have thought we were going away for a week...2 backpacks for a swim day at camp, clothes for them and me, and everything I need for work, purse, laptop, camera...I was literally loading 9 bags into the car...
Ending...we finally get to my parents house...took longer than expected, a lot of the street lights were out on the way...and my husband calls...the power just went back on!!  REALLY!

If you read all that...thanks for listening to my whining!!

I am linking up with the wonderful women at Monday Mingle!

It is so crazy hot! I don't even know what to wear in this sticky mess. We also almost got stranded in the middle of the storm. Our leisurely walk home from church became more of a mad scramble/run home. Sorry you have the power out for so long! But at least you looked fabulous this weekend!

I'm glad that you got your power back! I like the magenta cardigan, and it looks great with the lime green.

Oh no, what a day! I hope the storm didn't cause too much damage at your house, other than the power being out! I love that s/s cardi--I love those for summer, they're a lifesaver for the indoors!

Wow, wow, wow! Can it be possible that you and i are somehow connected? This is something that happens to me on somewhat regular basis! I think its because we are quick to come up with solutions rather than wait it out and see what happens. Which i think is a good trait to have anyway! So sorry about the tree not causing ENOUGH damage! LOL! Glad none was hurt and love both outfits and i think i prefer the 2nd one best:)

Oh, lady...that sounds like the least fun weekend EVER! I'm sorry you guys got stuck in all of those storms, but I'm glad they got the power back on for you when they did. No power is MISERABLE!

What a sequence of events! At least you looked fabulous while all of this was taking place. I need to bulk up my collection of lightweight layers and cardigans before the fall (which is creeping up way too fast!)
