And Now It Comes Full Circle...

All this talk in blog land about back to school outfits and fall clothing made me think about the kinds of outfits I would have picked out for my first day of college...way back in the 90's...  Even though it was over 10 years ago, this outfit I wore yesterday is pretty close to what I wore for my first day of class, sophmore year, Ithaca College.

 Skirt-Banana Republic/Shirt-Zara/Sandals-Indigo/Jewelry-Jcrew, Vida, Jewelmint, F21

Way too many years ago, my go to outfit was a jean skirt and a striped or patterned t-shirt and strappy sandals...I even had a brown leather messenger bag that I carried everywhere.  Back then, I would have never thought to wear stripes with a floral necklace, but I am pretty sure I did have a stack of bracelets on my arm!

It is pretty amazing to me how my core style has stayed the same all these years.

Back in Ithaca, my 19 year old, fun-loving, but incredibly career orientated self would have never fathomed that there would be a 35 year old self, with two kids, reminiscing about what I wore on the first day of school.

I love the two-toned stripes! I remember in college I was wearing hot pink tights and heels while everyone else was wearing leggings and uggs. I'm glad I never did that!

Ha! That's so funny about back to school. I get excited every year when I get to take the girls school clothes and supplies shopping. I feel like I am going back to school all over again :)

I really like this striped top with the denim skirt. And LOVE your bag!

Ha! I don't even want to think about what kinds of things I wore my first year of college. I went to a small Christian college with lots of rules regarding the dress code. I remember being told to go back to my dorm and change a number of times. lol

You look fabulous, though! I love the patriotic stripes!

Isn't it amazing how we can be so different, but so similar too? Although I will say I don't dress at ALL the same way I did in college. I wore pants most of the time then.

I love this skirt on you! You look beautiful!

Ha! I think I am the same way---still attracted to bright colors and wacky prints. At least there's no more acid washed anything in my wardrobe....

That's exactly why I love denim skirts and striped shirts--they are timeless! And I'm sure your 19 year old self would be very proud of where you are today!

I love the stripes...and that bag!

And thankfully, I can say my core style has changed since my first days of college, when I probably wore something along the lines of jeans and a t-shirt from the bookstore. I've come a long way from those days :)

Whoa, my first day of college was all the way back in the 90's too - but it wasn't THAT long ago! We're not old! I can't imagine what my 19 year old self would think of me. I don't know which would be more surprising to her - the fact that I'm living in Chicago, or that I've gone corporate. Ahh!

I'm impressed that you've maintained the same core style for so long. I was nowhere near this stylish when I was in college.

Very cute outfit! I think its great how you still have the same core style as you used to several years ago. Goes to show that you had good taste back then and still have good taste now ;)

I love that you remember what you wore to your first day of your sophomore year of school. I'm the same way, actually- freakishly attuned to the combo of clothes and my own personal history. :) And with such a cute outfit, how could you forget?

I'm going to be at the Chicago blogger meet-up tomorrow night, too. Looking forward to meeting you after reading your blog for so long. See you in a few hours!
