Woke up late, threw hair in a pony tail, put on my favorite casual skirt (think I have worn it three times in the last week) and leopard T....pile on some jewelry, wrangle up sweaty kids, 2 backpacks, purse, laptop and run out the door...whew...

Way too much thought went into this outfit today. I have a cocktail hour meet and greet with a client and the Blackhawks again, then spending some time at the Blackhawks Convention. So, I did not want to dress to fancy, but I still wanted to look dressed up and mature. Instead of my classic black cocktail dress, I though I would go with this blue dress. I wanted to make it a bit more casual, so I replaced the fabric belt that came with the dress with this more rugged looking brown one. Now came the bigger dilemma, how much jewelry... I frequent throw on multiple necklaces, rings and sleeves of bracelets...love me some jewelry...but, I decided to reel it in a bit today. The debate was do I overwhelm and stand out with my jewelry, or do I keep it simpler, not to stand out and scream "hi" at the cocktail party... I sometimes feel like I have to stifle my personality for some situations...I don't like it, but I deal. I decided today to take the middle path and wear 1 layered necklace, 1 chunky ring, 2 big bangles on one arm and a watch and 3 small beaded bangles on the other...oh, and small gold studs in the ears. I know it is probably more adornment than most people wear, but I love it...so there! Almost forgot, the only high wedge sandals that are comfortable were a must...hockey players are tall!!
Looking at these photos, I realize how much younger I look in casual clothes with my hair up...things that make me think!
Hope everybody has a good weekend. I plan to go shopping and spend some of my birthday money. Nordstroms's Sale...here I come!

I like how you accessorized your blue dress. It's perfect for a convention. Not too stuffy, but still polished.
Have fun shopping this weekend!
You are so cute!! That first outfit is such a great trendy look, but still all grown up. Love it! And the 2nd one is perfect for your meeting. I think you're really great at accessorizing! It's one of the things I love about your style!
VERY cute! You really struck a balance between being mature yet playful/youthful. Really loving it.
Can't wait to hear about your new purchases- good luck at the sale!
xx.

you do look younger with your hair up. I have the opposite effect. But the last outfit is my favorite. Way cute.
Wow, we were skirt twins yesterday! I like how you styled yours. I tried mine out with several different prints, but none worked for me. I need to copy your look.
And I like today's outfit too! Perfect for an after work get together with the Blackhawks. I'd assume.
I love how you swapped out the belt of the navy dress for a leather belt. I think you look professional, but very approachable. Gorgeous!
Love that you chose blue instead of black! (I usually go brown.) And I think your jewelry is just right!
I don't think there is anything wrong with piling on the bangles and layered chains - I'm a huge fan of statement jewelry!
Chic on the Cheap
I love that there's lots of jewellery!
did you get my email re paperdollproject?
I bought that same skirt at Target...how could I not in such a pretty color. Great minds think alike, obviously :)
