Too Cold For Cowboys

Worn Friday, October 29

Leggings-Hue/Sweater-Halogen/T-shirt-BR/Boots-ATL/Hat-JCrew/Scarf-Francesca's

Leggings are still the most comfortable things to wear of my stomach incision, so I am trying to come up with new ways to style them. Today I tried a long sleeve t-shirt over a slouchy sweater vest. I knew we were going to be running around outside in the 40 degree weather, so I added a scarf and hat. I am not really a hat person, but I saw this hat at the JCrew outlet and thought I would give it a try. It definitely kept me warm and is perfect for when I just cannot find the time to straighten my hair!
Today after school I took the kids to a Halloween party at the Town Square to meet woody, Buzz and Jesse from Toy Story and do some trick or treating at the stores. Nothing like standing in line for 45 minutes freezing so my boys can get a balloon animal from Jesse...at least I got some mini Snickers out of it!

Going to Work is Really Hard Work

Worn to work Thursday, October 28

Skirt-Fox's/Top-Halogen/Blazer-Filter/Jewelry-ATL, Pieces

I spend my furst full day in the office and I am so wiped out. All this working is really hard work!!
I felt very professional in this outfit. It id amazing how much my fashion comfort level has changed...I know I say it a lot, but since I started reading fashion blog, I have expanded my mind on what to wear and how to feel comfortable in clothes. I love the fact that I am wearing a ruffles patterned skirt tucked into a lace skirt. This skirt is elastic waisted and so comfy. I am still not ready for a tight waist around my swollen incision. I was inspired to wear this outfit by Kyla from Blue Collar Catwalk and all the amazing ways she loves to wear her lace skirts!

And the Band Played On...

Cellulitis is a skin infection caused by bacteria. At first, the infected area will be warm, red swollen and tender. As the infection spreads, you make have fever, chills and swollen glands. That is the clinical definition of my newest side effect of my surgery...all that and a bag of chips!
The Randi definition...woke up Thursday after an extremely restless night filled with chest pains, the sweats and stabbing stomach pains to an extremely swollen abdomen around my incision. Not only was it huge...like I was wearing a inner tube... the skin was very hot and deep red...I figured there was something wrong. After going to my doctor and being diagnosed with cellulitis, I felt my balloon of hope and normalcy lose all its air and fall to the cement.

On to bigger and better things. Since my outfit today consists on leggings and a too big flannel, not outfit post. So, I though today would be a perfect time to do a "What's in Randi's Handbag" post.

-Plum Halogen Handbag-Just bought it ad Nordstroms today and I love it!!
-Grey Poppy Wallet
-Poketo Zipper Pouch-Coupons, receipts, gift cards and shopping lists in here
-Medicine
-My beloved iphone
-Granola Thins...yummy
-I did not realize how many lip balm, sticks, glosses that I carried!
I used to carry so much more in my handbag, but my doctor told me to take out anything that is not essential because I should not lift anything over 5lbs. I always had a pad of paper, a book, a bottle of water, and a few toy cars...but now it is cleaned out!

From Hip to Hip

The sock monkey never stood a chance...

Thanks to all of you who sent me well wishes on my surgery....it went very well. The doctors cleaning everything out and got it all stitched up. I am having the drain taken out tomorrow and hopefully the stitches will heal and life can get back to normal...or as close to normal as my household can get.
No outfit post today. I just wore boyfriend jeans, a tank and a cardi...nothing too exciting...

One Of The Cool Kids

Outfit Worn Wednesday, October 20

Dress-Tucker for Target/leggings-Old Navy/jacket-Jcrew/Jewelry-BR,H&M/Boots-ATL

I must start out by saying I feel great in this outfit! Again the fact that I can wear an empire waist dress just makes me want to smile and dance around. I am just loving the way leggings and short dresses with boots look. Today was just a school carpool and park day, but I must admit when I walked into school, I felt like the cool mom. I never wanted to look like that suburbanite mom who wears jeans and a t-shirt and just wears a pony tail and drive a mini van. All in all today I felt good!
So, tomorrow is hopefully (finger crossed) the final surgery. They are cleaning out and closing up the stomach incision.
Me and my smaller cancer-free boobs can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

A Little Cold for Swimming

Worn to work Tuesday, October 19

Blazer-Filter/Tank Top-Gap/Skirt-Old Navy/Boots Ann Taylor Loft

In order to feel like a productive member of society I went to work today. Nothing like a 4 hour meeting to remember how much you are missed. The spectacular view above is from my clients restaurant...so beautiful.
So, my outfit today is something that I would never have worn before I jumped into the world of the blogosphere. First I mixed black and brown, something I love to do now. Second, I am wearing a ruffled tank...tucked in. Prior to reading fashion blogs, I would have never tucked in a shirt, let alone one with ruffles. I felt so self confident in this outfit today and I have all you other bloggers to thank for the inspiration.

Soccer Balls Everywhere

Outfit worn Monday, October 18

Sweater-Loehmann's/Leggings-Hue/Necklace-Coach/Boots-Ann Taylor Loft

You will have to pardon the sweaty, messy hair and lack of makeup...I just finished practicing soccer with Jack before his lessons...so tired now. The details are not that clear, but the top is a tunic sweater and on the bottom are denim leggings. I had a long day of driving, so I wanted to be comfortable and this outfit fit the bill.

More excitement...when I got home today, my Target order was sitting in front of the door. I had ordered one of the Tucker dresses, blue with flowers, empire waist with buttons. I was so excited to try it on and it fit wonderfully. It is the first time I can wear an empire waist and button front in about 10 years. My boobs were always too big for any kind of button down and empire waists never fit because the seam never made it to under my chest. I was so excited that the dress fit, that I was dancing around the house like a dork!! I cannot wait to wear it out!!

On My Own...

Outfit for Friday, October 15

Jeans-Kut from the Kloth/Tank Top-Martin and Osa/Sweater-BR Outlet Shoes-Sam Edelman

So, today was the first day I watched the kids on my own and drove school duty. Was a long nap and good behavior to much to ask for? Yes, it is! Alex took only a 10 minute nap and and Jack is on a nap boycott, so it was a very long day. By the time my husband got home, I was so tired I couldn't even make it through the new episode of Stargate Universe...yes I am a sci-fi geek!

Three Hour Tour...

Nothing like a 1 1/2 hour drive to a 4 hour meeting, then a 1 1/2 drive back to make for a long day...still back to work and exhausted.
Worn to Work Wednesday, October 13

skirt-Gap/shirt-BR/cardigan-Gap/boots-Ann Taylor Loft

Since it was a long day, I wanted to make sure my outfit was comfortable. Love this skirt...cotton jersey, great draping, banded waist! Such a soft sweater with ruffled edges! T-shirt with printed necklaces...so fun! Of course, my favorite boots...love!

Firsts...

Today was a day of firsts! Today was my first day back at work and my first day wearing a bra (since the surgery) For some reason I was nervous to go back to work (if only part-time) but once I was there and I had my coffee, it seemed like I never left.
But for the bra, it was an adjustment. I figured since it was back to work, it was time to put the girls up where they should be!

skirt-Old Navy/Sweater-BR Outlet/Shoes-Target/Jewelry-Black Sheep

There was a shooting a half a block from my office today and it totally freaked me out. no, I was not there when it happened, but it is still scary. A man shot the women he was walking with then shot himself...they were walking down the same street that I park my car on. There is a school playground across the street from where the shooting took place. I is just so sad and scary

So Need Sleep...

Things here have been crazy and busy so you are going to get two outfits in one post...very exciting.

Wednesday October 6
I love the fact that it is fall and the weather is cooling off, but the temperature shift during the day is insane. The day started out at a cool 60, but rose to warm 72 by noon, and back down to 60 by 6pm...
So I started the day with a cardigan...

Then I got too warm, and had to take the cardigan off to play soccer outside with the boys...

Thursday, October 7

I loved my outfit today. It is not something I would have word last year, but I have been inspire by so many other bloggers. I did not have any time today to stop and setup the camera and take a full outfit photo. So, when I came home this evening, I just took a picture in the mirror...not great, but it has to do.

Jeans-Kut from the Kloth/Sweatshirt-Splendid via Nordstroms Rack/Brogues-Off the Rack via Lori's
It is hard to see in the photos, but the top has lace on the shoulders and part of the sleeves and the back is all lace. To balance out the 80'sness frill of the top, I thought my new brogues would do the trick!
Ok, off to bed before I fall asleep typing...

Thank God For a Babysitter

Today my mom and I had the babysitter watch the boys this afternoon so we could have a calm lunch, run errands and shop. I bought a case for my new iphone4, Bobbi Brown eyeshadow palette in neutrals (I wanted the Naked Palette from Urban Decay, but it is sold out everywhere!) and skinny cargo pants from Express. It was a nice change from the driving to school, soccer and walks to the park.

Leggings-BR
Shirt-Old Navy
Necklace-Macy's
Boots-Ann Taylor Loft

Wore my new boots today and they were pretty comfy. I walked around all day in them and no blisters or anything...score!!
So, the final surgery to close up my stomach is scheduled and I am kind of freaking out, but I not sure why. It means that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, but there is always risk of another infection and I am just so worried about it never ending.

Just a Walk In the Park

I am trying to get back into the swing of outfit posts. It has been a while since I have had reason or enough energy to get fully dressed in something other than sweats. I also cannot find my tripod, so I am having my mom or Jack take the full outfit shots...so pardon the blurriness...

Jeans-Kut from the Kloth via Nordstroms
Tank Top-Old Navy
Cardigan-BR outlet
Shoes-Jeffrey Campbell
Earings-BR

I felt pretty good in this outfit today. I forgot I had theses brogues, but while cleaning out the closet this weekend I found them...new to me!
Me and the boys had lunch at the park today. It was so nice to sit outside and have salads and sandwiches in the crisp fall air...I so love fall.
Tomorrow I am going to debut my new boots...I know you are all waiting with bated breath!!

New Toys

So, I never used to be one of those people that was into technological gadgets...that was until I bought my iphone! I can pretty much do everything from it and are rarely without it. I can be at the park or in the car and I can be doing work, checking email, playing games, using the calendar to make an attempt to organize my days and even shop. Well today I upgraded all that goodness and bought the iphone4 and I LOVE it!!

I have not done much shopping lately...not being able to drive and still having gaping stomach wounds...have hindered me greatly. But, my one recent purchase is amazing...

May I introduce you to my new boots...

Ann Taylor Loft black leather riding boots. Great fit, which is usually an issue with me, since I am short and the top of boots can hit me in a funny place on my calf and gape. Love the hardware...makes them a bit more casual for everyday wear. I am planning so many outfits with these boots. They are going to be so versatile...I can wear them to work with skirts and dresses...on days off with leggings and jeans...oh the possibilities. I think I might just have to wear them tomorrow!
